About Learning Disabled Programs and Services
- This school accepts Learning Disabled students according to the following definition:
- According to the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities, a learning disability is a "general term that refers to a heterogeneous group of disorders manifested by significant difficulties in the acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning, or mathematical abilities." A learning disability is presumably due to central nervous system dysfunction, and is not primarily due to other handicapping conditions, environmental, or cultural influences. It is not a form of mental retardation, or an emotional disorder.
- There is no limit to the number of Learning Disabled students.
- There is no limit to the percent of students allowed into the Learning Disabled program.

Application requirements are the same as for other students.
Learning Disabled Student Services

- Oral Tests
- Readers
- Tutors
- Talking Books
- Reading Machines
- Tape Recorders
- Other:
writing center, extended time for tests.
- Learning Disabled students are tutored individually.
- Credit is not given for remedial courses taken.
Learning Disabled Term and Staff Information
- The Learning Disabled student program runs on a minimal term.
- A lighter course load is not given to Learning Disabled students.
- Additional time is not given to complete degree.
- No extra cost for Learning Disabled students.
- There are 2 part-time staff persons available to work with Learning Disabled students.
- Harold Y. McCulloch, Jr., Assistant Dean of the College, is the key staff person available to work with Learning Disabled students.
