About Learning Disabled Programs and Services
 
 
This school accepts Learning Disabled students according to the following definition:According to the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities, a learning disability is a "general term that refers to a heterogeneous group of disorders manifested by significant difficulties in the acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning, or mathematical abilities." A learning disability is presumably due to central nervous system dysfunction, and is not primarily due to other handicapping conditions, environmental, or cultural influences. It is not a form of mental retardation, or an emotional disorder.
 
There is support for Learning Disabled students but there is not a specific program available for Learning Disabled students.
There is no limit to the number of Learning Disabled students.
There is no limit to the percent of students allowed into the Learning Disabled program.
There were 480 students in the Learning Disabled program in 1995.

Application requirements are the same as for other students.

Learning Center
Other:
extended time for tests.
Learning Disabled students are tutored individually and in small groups.
Credit is not given for remedial courses taken.
 
 Learning Disabled Term and Staff Information
 
The Learning Disabled student program runs on a full term.
A lighter course load is given to Learning Disabled students.
Additional time is given to complete degree.
Extra costs for Learning Disabled students are $1300 per semester.
There are 4 full-time staff persons available to work with Learning Disabled students.
There are 25 part-time staff persons available to work with Learning Disabled students.
